Medi-cal requires pre-authorization for orthodontic treatment. They go based on a point system, and require that you meet a minimum of points so that the doctor can send authorization. Some patients do not qualify under Medi-cal due to the pre-authorization process, as they only authorize treatment that is constricting a person of everyday living. This includes but not limited to chewing, sleeping, biting and talking.
